Diamond is a young woman who, like countless others, strives for beauty.
But when she was a young teen, Diamond noticed something off about her face.
"I first noticed the facial hair grow in when I was 15. I would shave once a week," she said. "I tried hair removal creams, waxing, but every day it comes back. It takes me about about 3 hours to get ready. I shave my beard, I pluck my sideburns, and start to do my makeup, trying to get the perfect coverage,"
But what was causing all this trauma? Diamond turned to the TV show The Doctors which sent her to a doctor to be tested. Diamond had previously avoided the doctor because she was embarrassed and wondered what she had done to cause this.
It turns out that Diamond has a condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS. PCOS occurs when a woman's hormones are off balance. It can cause difficulty getting pregnant, miscarriages, and facial hair growth. If left untreated, it can also cause diabetes and heart disease.
Now that Diamond has been diagnosed, she can get treatment that will help limit the effects of PCOS and will help her lead a happy, normal life.
