15 Awe-Inspiring Photos of 'Christ The Redeemer' Statue In Rio

If you travel to Paris, you see the Eiffel Tower, in NYC you visit the Statue of Liberty, and while in Rio de Janeiro, you visit the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer.

Built in 1931, the statue stands at 98 feet tall and is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. During the 2016 Olympic Games, the statue became a symbol of the host city in Brazil and recently had a major restoration.

The original statue was designed to look both like a physical portrayal of the cross and Christ protecting the world with a loving embrace.
