2000s WWE Diva, Trish Stratus, Has A Whole New Life Now

During a time in the 1990s when television shows, movies and music videos were riddled with stereotypical female characters, there was one entertainment programming that stood out from the rest. World Wrestling Entertainment, best known as WWE, dared to be different by adding women to its lineup of professional wrestlers.

Previously known as Divas, these ladies proved that there are many women who can kick butt while being charming and looking flawless. Violence aside, the fierce WWE Divas were inspirational to little girls who grew up playing sports as well as dress-up.

As we welcomed the new millennium, the WWE hype seemed to get louder and more women started to make appearances in the ring. Among them was a 25-year-old Canadian bombshell who went on to become one of the best female wrestlers the world ever saw.

Trish Stratus, whose real name is Patricia Stratigias, joined the wrestling franchise in 2000 after years of working as a fitness model and host of Live Audio Wrestling, a Toronto-based radio show.

The blonde femme fatale debuted as a villain on an episode of Sunday Night Heat and it wasn't long before she began to prove that she was a force to be reckoned with. Less than a year after her first appearance, Trish won her first Women's Championship in 2001.

Trish's death-defying moves, rivalry with Lita and personality earned her a massive fan following and she soon became a household name. However, her career didn't last very long.

Find out why Trish decided to retire early and what she's up to now in the next page.

Since taking up a career in wrestling, Trish won a record-breaking total of seven Women's Championships. She's won multiple awards and titles including WWE Hardcore Champion, WWE Babe of the Year and Diva of the Decade.

However, 6 years after her debut, at the height of her career, Trish made a shocking decision that left many wondering why.

On September 17, 2006 at the WWE Unforgiven event, Trish fought in her last professional match and confirmed that she was retiring. At the time, the diva did not specify reasons as to why she decided to step away from ring, but a few years later she sat down for an exclusive interview with LFPress.com to clear up the rumors.

"I had a robust career...I had done it all. The wrestling world has a short shelf life and there were all the injuries. I have no knuckle on the middle finger of my right hand, a couple of missing teeth, herniated disc in my back, broken ankle," explained Trish.

"My mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It was time to move on and concentrate on my personal life," she added.

In 2013, Trish's legacy as one of the greatest female wrestlers was cemented in history when she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

She remained in the public eye for a while after her departure from WWE. She appeared on various television shows like Armed & Dangerous as well as movies including Gridlocked.

Shortly after retiring, Trish started her own business. Continue to the next page to find out what kind of company she runs.

From early on, Trish knew that wrestling wasn't the only thing she wanted to do in life. Despite a trailblazing career that turned her into the most decorated female wrestler in the history of WWE, Trish had another passion she desperately wanted to pursue.

"Wrestling was not my life. It was part of my life. I got into yoga, practised all over the world and got certified and turned my passion into a business in 2008 ... I produced my own television show and that allowed to me to control my image and my brand, " Trish explained.

Combining her passion for health and fitness with business, Trish started her own line of health products and opened a yoga studio, Stratusphere, in Toronto in 2008. The studio is "Canada's largest eco-friendly yoga studio" and has earned Trish a Business Woman of the Year award in 2009. A few years later in 2013, the studio was handed the Best Yoga Studio award.

As for her personal life, Trish only has eyes for one man, her high-school-sweetheart-turned-husband, Ron Fisico. The pair had been together for 14 years before tying the knot in 2006 and have two children, a 3-year-old son, Maximus Stratus Fisico, and a 5-month-old daughter, Madison-Patricia Fisico.
