25 Mesmerizing Finalist Photos From The World's Largest Photography Contest

The EyeEm Photography Awards, the world's largest global photography competition for emerging talents, announced the finalists for their 4th annual contest. Over 590,000 entries were received from over 88,000 photographers but only 100 were chosen to move onto the next round.

The photographs were selected from 5 different categories, The Architect, The Great Outdoors, The Photojournalist, The Portraitist, and The Street Photographer, and the winners will be announced at the 2017 EyeEm Photography Festival on September 15-17, 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

This photo is from a production of Hamlet presented by the inmates at Republic of Moldova's most secure prison, penitentiary nr17. The country currently has one of the highest inmates per capita in Europe.

"End of a rainy day in the village of Akodeha, Benin. For several hours, people dance to the rhythm of the drums, celebrating their divinity, Abessan Kokou. The ceremony is an offering made by the son of a dignitary, who came exceptionally from Gabon to solve a number of his problems. The dancers are clad in raffia loincloth and have their faces covered with a mixture of corn, eggs and palm oil."
