Castile soap is a vegetable-based soap that is so versatile you can practically use it for anything!
You'll be surprised at how many ways you can use it around your home, from cleaning your kitchen to clearing sinus congestion, it's definitely a product you want to have on hand. Remember that once you dilute it you're shortening its shelf-life, so make sure to use any of your homemade products within a few weeks.
Body Wash
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup castile soap
- 3/4 cup carrier oil (like avocado, jojoba, almond, etc.)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 15 drops essential oil of your choice
Directions
- Combine all ingredient in a bowl and mix well.
- Pour into an airtight container and use in the shower.
All Purpose Cleaning Spray
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup castile soap
- 4 cups warm water
- 5-10 drops lemon essential oil
Directions
- Combine the warm water and soap and pour the mixture into spray bottles.
- Use to clean hard surfaces around your home.
Reusable Kitchen Wipes
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 oz castile soap
- 5-10 drops peppermint oil
Directions
- Cut up an old t-shirt, dish cloth, or any other fabric that won't produce lint into rag-sized cloths.
- Add the fabric to a large mason jar.
- Pour the warm water, soap and peppermint oil over top of the rags and shake well so that the fabric is well saturated.
- Pull out a rag when you need to clean something around the home and simply throw it in the wash when it's dirty!
Fruit and Veggie Wash
Ingredients
- Large bowl or sink full of warm water
- 1/4 tsp castile soap
Directions
- Add the soap to your large bowl of water.
- Dunk your produce in the water and rinse under cool water.
Makeup Brush Cleaner
Ingredients
- Small squirt of castile soap
- Warm water
Directions
- Put a small amount of soap in a bowl with warm water.
- Swish dirty makeup brushes in the water and rinse under cool water. Once brushes air dry they're good to use!
Toothpaste
Ingredients
- Coconut oil
- Castile soap
Directions
- Place a small amount of coconut oil on your toothbrush and cover with 1-2 drops of castile soap. Brush teeth as normal.
Foaming Hand Soap
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup distilled water
- 1/4 cup castile soap
- 5 drops tea tree oil
- 5 drops lavender oil
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl or measuring cup with a spout and pour into a hand soap container that's specifically for foaming hand soap.
Clearing Congestion
Ingredients
Bowl of hot water
- 1 tbsp castile soap
- 5-10 drops eucalyptus oil
- 5-10 drops peppermint oil

Directions
- Place all ingredients in the bowl of hot water.
- Place towel over head and lean over the bowl. As you inhale you will feel your sinuses start to clear.
