A Farmer Came Home To Find Someone Else's House On His Land

When you're someone with a large amount of property, it's probably not exactly surprising to sometimes find unusual things lying around in your fields.

While things like crop circles and dead animals can certainly be unsettling, it's essentially the nature of the beast that anyone with a massive property is probably going to have some trespassers at some point. With any luck, these trespassers are just some harmless teenagers sneaking out of the house to drink beer and consummate their relationships after their curfew.

However, in the case of Patrick Maze, I think we can forgive him for being more than a little weirded out when he drove past a patch of his land on his way to work, only to discover that someone had left and entire house just sitting in a field...

The resident of Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan discovered the house at around 5:30 AM on his drive to work, forgot about it, and then rediscovered it several days later. Speaking to CBC, he commented:

"At the time I assumed that it was just to be left overnight and they would come back right away. Several days later, I'd actually forgotten about the house. I went for a walk on the property and there it still was. Then I kind of thought, 'That's strange. Something's up here.'"

His story went viral after being posted to his personal Facebook alongside a request for any information anybody could dig up, and lo and behold, an answer was soon found as to what the house was doing there.

Brenda Robertson, a resident of Lumsden, Saksatchewan, had ordered the house to be moved from out of province, only to be informed that a problem had arisen with the permits and that the move would have to be delayed.

After seeing Maze's post, she contacted both him and the moving company, the latter of which informed her they were told to leave the house there by SaskPower. Apparently, the house is now to be delivered to its proper owner, freeing up the land it's currently sitting on.
