Most girls grow up dreaming of their perfect wedding day - who they'll marry, what dress they'll wear, the venue, the decor, the menu and the guests. For bride Ashley Schiller, she also had to worry about staying composed during the ceremony that took place 208 feet above the ground.
Because Ashley and her new husband,Thom, decided to tie the knot on a roller coaster.
Their choice of unconventional venue wasn't a spur of the moment idea. The 25-year-old bride had dreamt of a roller coaster wedding as a child ever since she watched a Travel Channel show about adventurous weddings. Luckily, Thom was also sold on the idea after the two made a trip to Cedar Point in Ohio while dating.
The Rhode Island couple discovered that their dream amusement park celebration would be cheaper than a traditional one, so it was a no-brainer to get married at Six Flags New England.
“Everybody thought I was crazy,” said Ashley. “They honestly thought I was nuts.”
Thankfully, the adventurous duo's big day turned out to be mishap free and their guests had a great time at one of the most unique weddings of the year.
“It surpassed my expectations, it really did,” Thom told the Boston Globe. “Leading up to it, everybody was kind of wishy-washy. But by the end of the day, everyone was like, ‘This is one of the best weddings.’”
