Hall & Oates Gave Her Silly Airport Dance Their Seal Of Approval

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.

But what about when life gives you a four-hour layover in an Atlanta airport? For law student Katie Gould, that was the perfect opportunity to film a silly music video while dancing around the terminal.

In a quirky video set to Hall & Oates, Gould sashayed around the building, letting airport employees, strangers, and even her cat Bowie join in.

Her followers on Twitter spread the video far and wide, and in just five days it has already racked up 8.7 million views.

In an interview with Travel + Leisure, Gould revealed that long lines for security at Atlanta's Hartfield-Jackson International Airport were to blame for her delay.

"I'm used to Hartsfield-Jackson security being busy, but this was more than usual for the time of day. They had less TSA agents than they normally do, so I assumed the shutdown had something to do with it."

Gould's performance is proof positive that you can always make the best of a bad situation, and plenty of people applauded her dancing skills. That included Hall & Oates themselves, who reached out to Gould on Twitter.

"Impressive that you can dance that long!" the band commented.

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who showed off his own dance moves to the same tune in the film 500 Days of Summer, shared the video as well.

In the end, Gould is just happy that her video could make so many people on the internet smile, because she made it just to lift her own spirits.

"I was pretty frustrated that whole day with missing my flight, but doing something fun and silly really helped remind me not to take life too seriously," she explained.

"I really wasn't expecting this," she added about her viral fame in a follow-up message. "I was just bored at the airport and thought I'd laugh at myself and dance a little bit. I'm so glad so many people laughed along with me. I'm overwhelmed. Thank you all."
