Want to live into your 90s? Well one special cupboard in your house might have the answer.

A long-term study done by the University of California has shown that booze actually beats exercise when it comes to making it into your 90s. Cheers to that!

In the study, researchers tracked 1,700 people who were in between the ages of 90 to 99 years old. The study began in 2003 and researchers explored the impacts of daily habits on longevity of life.

Researchers found some very interesting results from this long-term study, that proves a drink a day could not only provide health benefits, but actually help you live longer.

They discovered that participants who drank about two glasses of beer or wine a day were 18% less likely to experience a premature death than those who abstained from alcohol. This is already awesome news, but there's even more to this surprising study. They found that participants who exercised 15 to 45 minutes a day, cut the same risk by 11%. That's right, these results prove if you're going to chose either exercise or booze it is more beneficial choose booze.

Obviously, doing both of these things would just be a fantastic combination, but if we have to pick one, the choice is obvious.

The head researcher on this study, neurologist Claudia Kawas, stated that she had no explanation for the results, but she firmly believes modest drinking improves longevity.

Although this was the most exciting thing they found in the study, it wasn't the only surprise.

They found weight of a participant affected how long they lived. Participants who were slightly overweight, but not obese, cut their odds of an early death by 3%, compared to subjects who were normal or underweight. So not only can we drink to stay alive, we can also be a bit overweight when we're older and it will only help us. This study may have just made my day.

The final habits they found to affect longevity were daily hobbies that participants completed for around two hours each day, leading to a 21% decrease in early death, while those who drank two cups of coffee a day cut that risk by 10%, compared to non-coffee drinkers.

So have a glass of wine every night, eat that extra cupcake and have a cup of coffee. It will only help you live longer after all.
