Bachelor star Chris Soules has been involved in a fatal car accident, and now he is in police custody facing charges.

Soules was driving a pickup truck in Iowa on Monday night when he rear-ended a John Deere tractor trailer. The impact sent the tractor into the ditch, severely injuring the driver of the vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The accident occurred at 8:20 pm, and the Bachelor alum was arrested at 1:16 am and taken into custody. Currently, Soules has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal car accident. He was NOT charged with driving under the influence. However, police say he was "in possession of alcoholic beverage containers at the the time of the crash."

Soules appeared on season 19 of The Bachelor in 2015, where he became engaged to Whitney Bischoff. Bischoff broke off their engagement later that same year.
