Bryan Adams Finally Sets The Record Straight About His Relationship With Princess Diana

It has been nearly 21 years since the world tragically lost Princess Diana, but her popularity with the masses has continued to live on.

Even after her death, people are still fascinated by the royal's private life, especially her romantic relationships.

Prior to breaking off her tumultuous marriage to Prince Charles, Diana admitted in a 1995 Panorama interview that she had a five-year affair with James Hewitt, a red-haired cavalry officer.

After her divorce, the Princess of Wales's most publicized relationship was with wealthy playboy Dodi Al Fayed. Their relationship was getting really serious when both of their lives were cut short following a paparazzi chase that ended in a car crash in Paris, France.

While multiple sources, including the royal's personal butler, Paul Burrell, were sure that Diana had plans to marry Dodi, others weren't as convinced because it turns out there was another man the late princess was allegedly interested in.

Apparently, Diana became smitten with a British-Pakistani heart surgeon named Hasnat Khan.

"She was truly taken with somebody who was so pure of purpose," said Vanity Fair journalist Sarah Ellison. "He was healing people. He wasn't remotely interested in her fame. He obviously wasn't all that interested in his own appearance. He sort of had a paunch. He ate Kentucky Fried Chicken. I mean, it's definitely this sort of aggressive kind of normalcy."

It also seemed like Khan reciprocated her feelings, "I think Hasnat was very much in love with Diana," said Tina Brown, author of The Diana Chronicles. Sadly, things did not work out for them.

It is also rumored that Diana had a tryst with John Fitzgerald "JFK" Kennedy Jr. after the pair met in the summer of 1995 when the politician tried to convince the princess to pose for his magazine George.

Simone Simmons, Diana's energy healer, said the princess was "bowled over" by John's charm. "We started talking, one thing led to another - and we ended up in bed," Diana told Simone. "It was pure chemistry."

There are many who believe Simone's account, but Burrell said it's false.

"Simone has concocted a fantastical story of nonsense in much the same vein as the mystical rubbish she used to feed the princess. That Diana had an affair with JFK Jr is simply untrue."

However, there is one relationship that Burrell recently told the public about that surprised many. According to the former royal butler, Diana was allegedly involved with Canadian singer Bryan Adams.

Burrell said the Grammy Award-winning singer was "the only man Diana ever trusted," and he would frequently sneak into Kensington Palace to see her.

This wasn't the first time that their alleged romance has been brought up. In 2003, Bryan's ex-girlfriend, Cecile Thomsen, said the entertainer's affair ruined their 12-year relationship.

"I knew Diana had an affair with Bryan," the former Bond girl shared at the time. "Bryan knew Paul Burrell very well and Paul was part of the inner circle around Bryan, and he also introduced him to Diana." She added, "Ours was a stormy relationship and Bryan's affair with Diana didn't make it easier."

Now, after years of not addressing these rumours, the "Summer of 69" singer has finally broken his silence to set the record straight.

Bryan, who wrote a song titled "Diana" in which he confessed his love for the princess, was asked about the rumor while he was on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

"There are many rumors that you and Princess Diana were once romantically involved," host Andy Cohen asked. "Her butler said that he used to sneak you into Kensington Palace. How would you characterize your relationship with Princess Diana?"

Bryan responded with, "Great friends. And she didn't sneak me in, I would just roll up."

Andy asked, if they were perhaps "friends with benefits," and Bryan replied, "Um, she was just... we were good friends."

That's all the singer was willing to share, so we'll never truly know what exactly happened between them. Still, we'll take his word for it, which will hopefully put an end to this old rumor.
