Carrie Underwood's New Sunday Night Football Theme Song Has Outraged Fans

YouTube

Carrie Underwood is an all-American country gal who we imagined couldn't do no wrong, until now.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner has sung the NFL Sunday Night Football theme song, "Oh, Sunday Night," since 2014, but on September 9, she switched things up with a new song called "Game On."

NBC Sports played the new tune and its accompanying video right before the game between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers kicked off, but it didn't go over as well as expected.

Instead of the familiar voice singing "Ohhh Sunday night!," which football fans have grown to love over the last four years, the lyrics in Underwood's new song threw people off and many weren't pleased by it.

You can listen to it here:

Although Packers and Bears fans are known for their age-old rivalry, so many of them were on the same side about their disappointment over the song, and they made sure it was known on Twitter.

The main argument brought up by many fans was that Underwood fails to sing the "Ohhh" part before "Sunday night."

The good thing is that many fans clarified that their feelings about Underwood hasn't changed, but they will be skipping the song in the future.

Of course, as with any change, it will take some time before the song catches on, but there were a few fans who already embraced it.

Underwood  took over from Faith Hill, who performed the previous theme song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" until 2013. Just like the recent change, it took a while before fans accepted the switch up.

In addition to the new SNF song, Underwood has a new album, a tour, and a baby on the way. She is also set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 20, according to People.

The American Idol winner will be the 2,646th celebrity to get one of these covered stars. The honor will commemorate all her achievements during her 13-year career in the music industry.

Simon Cowell and her fellow country singer Brad Paisley will each deliver speeches at the special ceremony.

"Fans of Carrie Underwood will be thrilled when they see their favorite performer accept her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. People from all over the world have been asking when she will be honored, and we are proud to say, the time is now," Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies said in a statement. "We welcome everyone to Hollywood to cheer her on!"

Congratulations are in order for Underwood!
