Donald Trump Jr. Served With Divorce Papers, Twitter May Be To Blame

The rumor mill surrounding Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Vanessa Trump, has been in overdrive in the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, a lot of it turned out to be true.

Earlier this week, Page Six published a piece in which they alleged that those who are close to the family claim the couple's marriage was on the rocks, and divorce was inevitable.

At the time, it was reported that President Trump's eldest son and his wife, who tied the knot in November 2005, were no longer living under the same roof, but they weren't legally separated.

Mere days after those initial reports, the couple announced that they are officially parting ways after Vanessa, 40, filed for divorce.

"After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways," the couple said in a joint statement to Page Six. "We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."

Unlike many high profile divorces that get messy, The New York Daily News confirmed that the filing, which was done at the Manhattan Supreme Court, is "uncontested." This means that the pair agreed on the split.

Where did their 13-year marriage go wrong?

According to multiple sources close to the couple, they have been going through a rough patch for while now.

"I heard for a while they have been living separate lives... Even before all this Trump presidency stuff started they weren't good and their marriage was strained," the source reportedly told People.

There are a few other factors that contributed to the end of their marital bliss, and it looks like Donald Jr. and Twitter are to blame.

"...She is increasingly lonely and alone in the house with the children."

According to multiple media reports, the couple, who were introduced by President Trump at a fashion show in 2003, struggled to make their marriage work due to Donald Jr.'s increased absence and the stress of constantly being caught up in controversies.

Donald Jr., 40, has been away too many times for business and for pleasure, leaving Vanessa and their five children behind.

One source told Page Six that, "Don Jr. has been busy traveling, which has contributed to their problems. Vanessa is a devoted mother, but she is increasingly lonely and alone in the house with the children."

Another stressor on their marriage is Donald Jr.'s recent behavior on social media. He recently stirred up a ton of controversy when he liked a tweet about conspiracy theories involving the Parkland school shooting, and another about the way in which antidepressants are linked to mass murder.

"Vanessa is by nature is a very low-key person, and she is uncomfortable with the attention her family is getting now the Trumps are on the world stage," said another source close to the family.

The last straw

Vanessa and the kids were recently rattled after she opened a letter addressed to their Manhattan home that contained a white powder and a threatening note. She was taken to the hospital, but was released shortly after the NYPD confirmed that the substance was non-hazardous.

"It was terrifying for Vanessa, who is naturally worried for the safety of her children," added the unidentified source.

Donald Jr. and Vanessa's divorce is the first in nearly 20 years for the Trump family. The last divorce was in 1999 and it was between the President and his second wife, Maria Maples.

Although Vanessa has been quiet since the joint statement was released. Donald Jr. was back on Instagram hours later.

The businessman posted a selfie with his three-year-old daughter, Chloe Sophia, along with the caption, "No matter what is going on bedtime cuddling with the smurf puts a Yuge smile on my face. #bedtime #daddysgirl #cuddle."

The couple also share daughter Kai Madison, 10, nine-year-old Donald III, six-year-old Tristan, and five-year-old Spencer.

Hopefully their divorce won't have a negative impact on the children.
