Dunkin' Donuts Is Considering A Major Brand Change And It Shouldn't Be A Surprise

Alright everyone, LISTEN UP. Dunkin' Donuts is about to make a big change and honestly we should have seen this coming.

If you're unaware of Dunkin' Donuts, because you somehow have been off planet Earth for the past six decades, here's a little refresher course.

In 1948, William Rosenberg opened a shop called Open Kettle, which in 1950 became Dunkin' Donuts. Specializing in coffee, donuts, and other tasty treats. They are a staple in many American routines, and we can all agree that generally there are never enough people working at a given time. But that's okay. The iced coffee is worth the wait.

But now, 70 years after gracing us with its presence, there's a large chance that Dunkin' Donuts is about to make a change we really should have seen coming.

See what the change is on the next page!

Our favorite coffee shop is considering going from Dunkin' Donuts to Dunkin'.

I KNOW, RIGHT?

The chain claims they do more than sell donuts, and that in fact their coffee is their main attraction at this point.

"While we remain the number one retailer of donuts in the country, as part of our efforts to reinforce that Dunkin' Donuts is a beverage-led brand and coffee leader, we will be testing signage in a few locations that refer to the brand simply as 'Dunkin'," the company told CNBC.

"We have been referring to ourselves simply as Dunkin' in our advertising for more than a decade, ever since we introduced our "˜America Runs on Dunkin' campaign," says a spokesperson for the company.

And he's RIGHT. If we had all just opened our eyes since the year 2006, we would have realized this has been coming all along.

People have been taking the news...not well.

Do you think it makes sense for Dunkin' Donuts to change their name? Do you like it? Do you think it's irrelevant either way? Let us know!
