Back in my day, people didn't make their own slime.

In the mid '70s, Mattel, a toy product manufacturer, introduced a non-toxic and squishy material like slime, but it didn't take off like it has today.

The reason why is because people seem to enjoy making their own gooey creation using Elmer's glue.

The most fun my generation had with Elmer's glue was squirting it on our palms, smoothing the sticky liquid, and then waiting for it to dry so we could peel it off and scare our friends.

That's as far our creativity went, but nowadays, people of all ages are wowing the internet with their unique recipes.

Elmer's Glue has picked up on the viral trend, and is now offering awesome prizes and a shot at stardom for the person who can make the most interesting slime recipe.

"The slime trend took social media by storm and continues to grow as kids seek fun new ways to express their creativity with Elmer's," Victor Misawa, senior vice president of marketing and writing for Newell Brands said in a press release.

"The Ooey Gluey Slime Games were designed to inspire people to show off their unique slime creations with our products. This is also an opportunity for kids to become famous for their slime-making skills."

Now the question is, do you or someone you know have what it takes to win the Ooey Gluey Slime Games?

Slime masters have a chance at winning some amazing prizes for the last submission round, which is between September 3 to September 16.

In this round, participants are asked to create the "Craziest color-combo slime" and "Grossest slime." Remember, participants can submit as many recipes as they like.
