Emaciated And Frostbitten Pup Went In Search Of His Own Rescue

When a volunteer was out walking a shelter dog on a cold February day, they weren't expecting to see what they did. A scared, frozen and emaciated dog was sitting just outside waiting patiently to be saved.

Winston was found outside a shelter with a rope tied around his neck. The shelter wasn't sure whether he had been left there by someone or if he escaped and made his way over, but he was in desperate need of help.

The rope on his neck was tied very tightly and was about 15 feet long. He had not eaten in what looked like a very long time as all of his ribs were visible and his hip bones were protruding.

He only weighed 45 pounds when a dog his size should be 65-60 pounds and he was in need of a lot of love.

Luckily, he has been given everything he needs. He is back up to a healthy weight and has been adopted out to a family who loves him the way he deserves. The Michigan Animal Rescue League shelter where he was found has said that "We are excited that Winston's forever home has been found. Winton's story became the face of the larger problem of animal homelessness in metro Detroit. We look forward to giving love and support to the many other Winstons who are in search of their forever home."

It's heartbreaking to think that there are more like him out in the world; cold, hungry, and just wanting to give all the love they can.

If you are looking for a new dog to bring into your family, make sure you go to your local shelter and see if there is a dog in need who deserves a second chance!
