Man Takes His Favorite Meal With Him To Heaven

Crazy-Phils

We all want to know that there is something beyond this life: A better place waiting for us on the other side where we can reminisce on the times we spent on Earth and carry with us the most special memories we have. Of course, they won't be the same for all of us.

When Richard Lussi realized that his time was approaching, he took the reasonable steps towards setting his affairs in order. As a lifelong fan of the regional fast food staple, Philly cheesesteaks, it was only natural that when he finally expired, he had leftovers to bring to the pearly gates.

His grandson, Dominic Lussi, said Richard left specific instructions to have his favorite sandwich ferried over to him after he passed.

"No onions," Dominic said his grandfather was clear on this point, "because they'll come back to haunt me."

The store owner was surprised when the Lussi family arrived without his star customer, especially when they ordered not one, but two sandwiches...

Richard had become a regular customer at the famous Philly cheesesteak joint, Pat's Kings of Steaks. The restaurant was reportedly the first place to popularize the regional dish, and the Lussi family had known no other establishment.

Richard would often have his family pick up sandwiches for him if they were driving anywhere even remotely by Philadelphia, as he lived two hours outside of town.

When they went to order, they remembered one last piece of advice that the Lussi patriarch had given them.

"If you're going to Pat's you always get two, you never order just one."

The owner of the restaurant, Frank Olivieri Jr., was honored by the last request from his old friend, and even had a theory about why Richard would want two sandwiches even at the end. "Maybe it's a bribe for Saint Peter," he said.
