The world lost one of its greatest voices when the legendary Glen Campbell passed away on August 8 in Nashville at the age of 81. Although no official cause of death has been given, the country crooner had been battling Alzheimer's disease since early 2011.
Messages from all over began to pour in immediately after news of the Rhinestone Cowboy singer's death began to circulate.
Dolly Parton was among the first to release a statement via video in which she called Glen "one of the greatest voices there ever was in the business":
Glen Campbell was one of the greatest voices of all time. I will always love you, Glen! pic.twitter.com/LQFEWA42lF— Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) August 8, 2017
Other celebrities including Blake Shelton, Carole King and Peter Frampton also shared their tributes on social media.
Extremely sad to hear that Glen Campbell has passed away. My prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family.— Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) August 8, 2017
Dear Glen Campbell Rest In Peace As well as your incredible musical abilities you were one of the most down to earth ppl I have ever known.— Peter Frampton (@peterframpton) August 8, 2017
But none of the tributes were as poignant as the one Glen's youngest daughter, Ashley, posted on Twitter just a few hours after he died.
