Government Is Warning Parents, Issues Recall For 1.6 Million Walmart Dressers

A few weeks after a massive recall of a variety of frozen products sold at Walmart stores, the discount retailer is once again at the center of another safety alert.

If you or someone you know have shopped for furniture at Walmart, then you'll want to keep reading to learn more about this new recall notice.

On September 6, 2017, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for approximately 1.6 million dressers sold at the discount retailer's locations across the country.

The affected dressers are being recalled because they're unstable if not anchored to the wall and the drawers pose "serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or injuries to children." Additionally, the dressers do not comply with some of the requirements of the U.S. voluntary industry standard.

Keep reading to find out which models are included in this huge recall.

So far the recall includes Ameriwood Mainstay four-drawer dressers "with plastic drawer glides and a single decorative pull on each drawer" sold between April 2009 and May 2016.

They retailed for approximately $60 and were available in six colors: white, alder, weathered oak, black forest and ruby red.

The CPSC has already received one report of injury caused by a recalled dresser tipping over.
