Grace Kelly's Secret Double Life

If anyone ever lived the Hollywood dream, it was Grace Kelly.

Born to humble beginnings in a Philadelphia family, she managed to become a world-famous movie star and later a princess. In just 5 years and 11 films, she became a true Hollywood icon who is still remembered by fans to this day.

But behind the glitz and glamour were secrets that nearly tore her perfect life apart, including love affairs with some of Hollywood's leading men.

In one of the star's biographies, the secrets she kept from the public and her own family were finally revealed.

Kelly's career seemed to come out of nowhere, with the actress becoming a star almost instantly thanks to roles in Hitchcock classic like Rear Window and Dial M for Murder.

One of her biographers, Wendy Leigh, credits part of her success to the way she aggressively pursued her male co-stars. Clark Gable, Bing Crosby and William Holden are among the men Kelly is rumored to have had flings with.

Of course, all these romances made young Grace very unpopular with Hollywood's wives. Director Henry Hathaway's widow summed her up this way:

"Yes, she wore white gloves, but she was no saint."

Today, Kelly is remembered for her romance and fairy-tale marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco as much as any of her films.

After meeting the prince at the Cannes film festival, the pair tied the knot at a small wedding of 600 guests  - which was watched on TV by an estimated 30 million people.

But Kelly's marriage didn't slow her down at all. Her love affairs continued, including an affair with the husband of one of her own bridesmaids.

Kelly's most famous affair was with singer Frank Sinatra, who co-starred in High Society with Kelly before she married Prince Rainier.

According to Leigh, the pair would take romantic trips together to a villa in southern France, much to her husband's displeasure.

Sadly, at just 52 years old a tragic car accident cut Kelly's life short. She suffered a stroke while driving to Monaco and steered off a mountainside.

If there was any doubt fans around the world loved her, the fact that more than 100 million tuned in to watch her funeral proves she was one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
