Gather round everyone, we have good news!
Dietitian and blogger Chelsey Amer has made all of our wildest dreams come true. In a new interview with the Chicago Tribune, she argues that it's actually healthier to start your day with a slice of pizza than a bowl of breakfast cereal.
We don't need to be convinced, but if you're feeling confused, let Amer explain.
Because you CAN have your cake 🎂 and eat it too! 🍰 That's what L I V I N G is alllll about 😋 ... I'm still on a LIFE high from my surprise bridal shower this past weekend 👰🏻 (that I don't think is going anywhere anytime soon), where my mom got me this 👆🏼 incredible nut-free 🚫🥜 cake from @thesweetpeace! I'm OBSESSED if you're on Long Island! 🎂 Hope you have a fab FRIDAY!! 🎉 Thanks for the 📸 Dad!
"You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” she told the paper.
“However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”
When you also consider that your average bowl of cereal contains much more sugar than a slice of pepperoni and cheese, the choice becomes obvious.
Amer says the swap could even help you avoid the mid-morning "sugar crash" that comes after enjoying your cereal bowl.
If you're not ready to make the jump to a morning meat lover's just yet, Amer has more advice to help you eat smarter in the morning.
