Health Update On Ami Brown From Alaskan Bush People

As season 7 of Alaskan Bush People began, the Brown family was hit with hard news: Ami, the matriarch of the family, was suffering from advanced lung cancer.

"Once we got the call that it was cancer, part of me just, like, wanted to run away," said Bam Brown, Ami's son. "But stronger than that was the emotion to get here and to see mom and do whatever I could to be moral support to everyone."

"To see mom not wanting to get out of bed because it might hurt to walk around the room, that was really difficult," he continues. "And then when I gave mom a hug, I felt how thin she was. So yeah, that hit me pretty hard. As prepared as I was to walk into the room and go into that, it's different when you're there."

The family moved to California, which was a big deal for them considering they live in seclusion.

"The kids really made that decision," Billy Brown, Ami's husband, said. "We saw Ami slow down so fast. She started out 128 lbs. and she dropped to 89 really fast. Last winter was really hard on her. [Our son Bear] got really mad one day. I was pretty bad and mom was pretty bad and he started right then, "How long are we going to do this?" Once we knew what Ami had, Bear was adamant. We had talked about it before and when we sat down realized and made the decision, it wasn't like it came out of nowhere. "

"This was a little drastic for strengthening ... there are good days and bad days "“ for them and for me. But they handle their emotions pretty good. There are days that they have to talk about it and then talk about it again," said Ami Brown. "I have faith that they will remain strong."

Now, sources close to the family have an update on Ami's condition.

According to the Facebook page Alaskan Bush People Exposed, which has a reputation of posting accurate information regarding the family, Ami has finished her chemotherapy and is making considerable progress.

"Ami has finished chemotherapy treatment for now and they are scheduled to start filming in a few weeks," the page posts.

The Facebook page is alleged to have close ties to the production company of the Discovery Channel show, and is considered a reputable source. It's claimed that filming is scheduled to resume in a few weeks, but that Ami is not scheduled to appear at all this season. Of course, her health takes main priority.

"There has been no talk of Ami filming this season," a page administrator wrote. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, and there has been a delay already."

Regardless of filming, we are happy to hear that Ami has completed her chemotherapy, and we wish her nothing but the best!
