I Dumped Lemon and Blueberry Into a Pot and Made the Best Dessert I've Ever Tasted

Print Recipe

Dump cakes are my kind of baking! When you can literally dump ingredients into a baking dish and throw it in the oven with delicious results, you know you've found a winner.

I made this Lemon Blueberry Dump Cake over the weekend, and WOW! I'm super impressed!

Not only was it yummy, but it was one of the easiest desserts I've ever made. I popped by the grocery store and picked up some butter, lemon cake mix and blueberry pie filling - literally 3 ingredients! I've never been on an easier shopping trip.

Serve the cake warm out of the oven or cool (both options taste great) and top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. You could also try adding some fresh blueberries sprinkled on top for some extra blueberry flavor.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a glass or ceramic 9x13 baking dish.

Pour your blueberry pie filing into the baking dish. Make sure to spread the blueberries to evenly cover the bottom of the dish.

In a medium sized bowl combine the lemon cake mix with 1/2 cup melted butter.

Make sure to stir until the mixture has the consistency of small crumbs.

Pour cake and butter mixture over the pie filling in your baking dish. Be careful not to mix the layers together.

Spread the cake mixture evenly over top of the blueberry layer.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until the sides are hot and bubbling.

Serve the cake warm (or cool - up to you!) with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Just something to keep in mind, is that if you serve this warm with whipped cream, the whipped cream is likely to melt. It will still taste great, but might look a little unappealing.

Doesn't this look awesome? If you're up for it you could make homemade blueberry filling instead of using the canned fruit. Or you could experiment with a completely different fruit flavor if you aren't a fan of blueberries. This recipe is pretty forgiving, so feel free to try flavors that you like best!

An easy-to-read version of the recipe is below. Let us know how your cake turned out!
