Experts Reveal Royal Baby Will Not Be Named After Princess Diana - For This One Surprising Reason

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their little girl to the world in 2015, the unspoken question on everybody's mind was, "Will William and Kate honor his late-mother Diana by naming the new princess after her?" For many of Diana's devotees, it seemed only fitting that the beloved princess would live on with her granddaughter bearing her name.

It was not to be, however, as we all know she ended up with the name of "Charlotte." But Diana's legacy was not overlooked completely. One of the little Royal's middle names is, in fact, Diana.

Her full name being, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. This inclusion was enough to satisfy most of Diana's fans, but others were unhappy that her moniker did not enjoy first name status.

Now, with another Royal baby set to arrive any day, name suggestions are swirling throughout the internet, with the latest predictions settling on "Alice" for a girl and "Arthur" for a boy. Conspicuously absent is the name Diana. Royal watchers are wondering why this baby, if a girl, should not be named after the late Princess of Wales.

Alex Apati, a representative for Ladbrokes, a popular bookie for betting on royal baby names, has explained exclusively to Express, "Diana was fancied last time around, but we now know that's a middle name for Charlotte.

"It's hard to see Kate and William opting for it as a first name should their third child be a girl."

The name would also put a lot of "pressure" on the child, Alex added.

He explained, "Even though we have the "˜heir and the spare', there will be an extraordinary amount of pressure on this child already. The name Diana will probably only increase that."

No matter what the new precious bundle is named, we can rest assured that the legacy of the beloved Diana will live on through her grandchildren. If not by name, then through their extraordinary lives of service and by how much they are already adored by their public.

Looking ahead, most royal insiders are saying that Kate's due date is April 23rd, but bookies are reporting that the odds highly favor her having the baby as early as this week.

Whichever it is, one thing is for certain. The time is short before we get to meet the newest member of the Royal Family. And I can almost guarantee that no matter its name, we will all instantly fall madly in love with the new little prince or princess.
