Florida School Shooter Withdraws Not Guilty Plea

Nikolas Cruz is the suspect in the deadly February 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. 17 students and teachers lost their lives that horrific afternoon at his hands, and if it wasn't for the bravery of some of the victims, there surely would have been more casualties. At 4:50 pm on March 8, 2018, Nikolas Cruz withdrew his not guilty plea and decided to enter a no plea at all.

He had originally entered a plea of not guilty but has decided to stand silent by not entering any plea. Cruz will plead guilty according to the public defender's office if the death penalty is taken off the table. Prosecutors have not announced a decision on that at this time, so it is likely he will remain silent on his plea as long as possible.

Cruz will likely be arraigned next, where a judge will be forced to enter a "not guilty" plea on his behalf. If the judge does not enter a plea for him, the case will be stalled. Hopefully, this case will wrap up swiftly with justice for everyone involved. Although nothing can be done for those who have suffered as a result of this horrible massacre, we pray that peace will be brought to them in their time of need.
