Little Princess Charlotte Will Make Royal History When Baby #3 Arrives. After Centuries Of Royal Tradition, Princess Charlotte Stands Out

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child in late- April 2018. As of now, so much of Royal Baby #3 are a mystery; the gender and the name have yet to be known and the baby is only days away from arriving. Typically, the gender of the baby is imperative to royal family... Can you guess why this is so important?

Historically, the gender of the baby would determine his or her priority to the throne. Since 1701, male heirs were given priority over female heirs which would move them ahead in the line of succession. Technically, a male heir would have an opportunity to take a female heir's place in line for the throne simply because of his gender.

As of right now, Prince Charles is heir to the throne after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II either passes or steps down. Prince William is second, Prince George is third, and Princess Charlotte is fourth. Prince Harry is currently fifth in line, even though he is the second son of the first heir. Following him is Prince Andrew, then Princess Beatrice, and then Princess Eugenie. Of course, everyone after Prince Harry will move down one place after the new baby arrives in late- April.

In the past, this third baby of the Duke and Duchess would have a chance to take Princess Charlotte's place for the throne, but thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, she will keep her place in line regardless of the gender of the Royal Baby #3.

Because of the adjusted law, Princess Charlotte will remain as the fourth in line to the crown. Whether the baby is a boy or a girl will make no difference. Which may be why the Duke and Duchess have been keeping Royal Baby #3 such a big secret!

Princess Charlotte is making history by keeping her place as fourth in line for the throne. She can rest easy and enjoy her toddler days by knowing that he will remain ahead of her baby brother or sister. Although, we reckon she'll care a little bit more when she's older.

The sex of the baby has yet to be shared, but the world will soon find out! The Duchess is set to welcome Royal Baby #3 in late- April at St. Mary's Hospital. We can't wait to meet the little one! Do you think Baby #3 will be a boy or a girl?
