Puppy was Filmed Crying In The Shelter, Tears In Her Eyes, Cant Believe She Begins A New Life!

Hearing a dog whine is just exactly how they cry, maybe they don't have tears quite like us but nevertheless, they do cry when they are sad or to show they really want something.

Sarah Sleime is a volunteer for the Greater Charlotte SPCA and she witnessed what happened... Sarah was visiting a shelter run by Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control (CMACC) over in the North Carolina when she saw the puppy very quiet and still and sad just crying...

Sarah said: "“ "I was waiting for them [the shelter workers] to health check a couple of the dogs we were considering pulling, and I was walking up and down the kennels, and I just saw this pit bull sitting there, and she was very human-like, slumped over and very solemn ...So I bent over and started talking to her."

The seven year old pit bull had not long had puppies that weren't with her anymore, as Sarah spoke to the dog, her eyes watered ever so slightly like she almost had tears in her eyes:

Sarah said: "“ "It was the craziest phenomenon..."

It was obvious to Sarah that the pit bull, only recently surrendered, was very upset and very obese too, she knew that dogs don't cry like us humans, but this was as close to it she could see!

Sarah said:

"[The shelter workers] believe she was confined and used as a breeding machine ... She's obviously had many, many litters."

The SPCA wasn't in a position to pull any big dogs out because there weren't enough foster homes, but she knew that she had to do something to help the pit bull called, at the time, cinnamon. She got her phone out and took a video!

She said about her Facebook post:

"I posted her video on Facebook, and little did I know, it would be viewed like 700,000 times on the first day"

Many people from around the world messaged her on Facebook, her inbox was overflowing, person after person wanted to adopt Cinnamon, but it was Sarah's friend, Megan Shelton, that eventually adopted her!

Sarah said:

"I have a special place in my heart for pit bulls ...I think they're a very misunderstood dog and a misunderstood breed. And when I saw her in that video, literally crying in a cage, I cried. My kids cried. I showed my husband, and he said we could go look at her tomorrow."

The very next day there was a queue formed outside the shelter to see Cinnamon, Sarah and her family were first in the line! When they got to see Cinnamon they were all falling in love with her!

Megan said:

"She was super sweet ...They had brought her into a room to meet with us, and we just let her relax. My kids were on the floor with her, and she sat on their laps and knocked them over with kisses"

Megan and her family had a pit bull already, called Blu, he was male and three years old, they were not quite sure how he would react to another dog joining the family.

Megan said:

"I had no intention of introducing them for the first couple of days ...I just wanted her to get used to the home and get used to going for walks outside. So we actually brought her into our bedroom with her crate filled with blankets."

Rosie had a much better plan, she whined at the door of the bedroom...

Megan said:

"I realized that our male dog was on the other side of the door, and he was doing the same thing ...So I had the kids put her on a leash, and I got Blu on a leash and we just had them walk outside and meet. It was interesting because you never know how it's going to go, but they just kind of sat next to each other with tails wagging."

Blu and Rosie are right at home with each other, like they have been pals for years!

Megan said:

"I'm working at my desk right now and she's asleep at my feet, and ... [Blu] is on his spot right on the other side of my desk"

"When she gets excited, she snorts like a pig ...It's so cute. My girls walked her to the bus stop this morning, and when new kids came down, she snorted at them until they'd come pet her."

The Shelton's haven't had Rosie very long but she is getting to be a real character, with her own personality, they can't think what it would be like without her already!

Sarah found out that the day Cinnamon was adopted there were so many pets surrendered to the rescue shelter that 30 animals had to be euthanized, it's such a good job that Cinnamon was adopted that day!

Rosie happened to find a good home, with a little help, but there are plenty of other shelter animals with many more animals who need homes. Many shelters and groups are overwhelmed with animals during the holiday season!

You can search to adopt dogs and cats on the CMACC website and with the Greater Charlotte SPCA. SHARE and Let's get some animals in new homes!
