Actress Suing Production Company After On-Set Injury Leaves Her With Permanent Scar

Canadian actress Taylor Hickson, who has appeared in movies such as "Deadpool" and "Everything, Everything," had just turned 19 years old before a freak accident left her face permanently disfigured.

In December 2016, the up-and-coming actress was shooting an "an emotionally charged scene" for the 2017 horror film "Ghostland" when the director told her to pound her hands harder and harder against a glass plane. She asked whether this was safe, to which he assured her it was. However, that wasn't true, as it resulted in her face being sliced open by broken glass, giving her a nasty facial injury. Now the 20-year-old has filed a lawsuit against the film's production company, Incident Productions.

"The glass shattered, causing [her] head and upper body to fall through the door and shards of glass. As a result of the incident, [she] badly cut the left side of her face," the suit states. Hickson had to be taken to the hospital, where she received about 70 stitches.

"She has since undergone treatment including laser treatment and silicone treatment, but over one year post-incident, has been left with permanent scarring on the left side of her face," the suit adds. "It is unknown at this time if any further treatment, including plastic surgery, would reduce the visual appearance of the injury."

And while Hickson is undoubtedly still just as beautiful as before, she says the scars she's left with are much more than skin deep.

"It's been mass amounts of insecurity, conflicted, confused, hurt, angry, and sad that this was my last day on set and no precautions were taken." She adds that she suffered a loss of income while recovering from the injury and that the scarring may negatively impact her career.

According to the suit, neither safety glass nor a stunt double was used during the shooting of that scene. We wish Hickson luck, as she's definitely justified.
