Grandma Gets A Touching Letter From Her Dog Who Passed Away

Every once in a while, I think about how my beloved doggo "” a spoiled-rotten 9-year-old dachshund "” won't be here one day. It's this very thing that every pet parent has to grapple with as their furbabies age, and for Ashley Bowerman's grandparents, the loss of their poodle proved to be a devastating blow.

Ashley's grandma lost her best four-legged friend, Tucker, after 10 incredible years of companionship. She took the loss extremely hard, trying her best to keep his memory alive while trying to reconcile the fact that she'd never see him again.

"He had always been a huge part of their life," Ashley told The Dodo. "They have been heartbroken ever since."

The holidays were really difficult for the grandmother, so Ashley's grandfather decided to do something so sweet to make his favorite lady feel a little bit better. He wrote a little note inside a card from the perspective of Tucker, who had lived an amazing life with his human mom and dad. Here's what it said:

"Just wanted to let you know that I could not have had a better mom," the letter reads. "From the time I was just a pup to the time you had to let me go, you took very good care of me. Now I am in this beautiful place free of all pains. I'll be watching for you as I always had, waiting at the window. Have a wonderful life till then. -Tuckie"

The message warmed her heart so much and really led her to think about the fact that although Tucker's life was over, the one that they'd given him was full of joy and so much love. Tucker's ashes are, in fact, sitting in the window where he waited for his beloved mama each day. These two will meet again someday and I'm willing to bet that they don't miss a beat. Rest easy, Tucker!
