Japanese Are Polishing Aluminum Foil Balls To Perfection And The Results Are Super Satisfying

The way most of us utilize aluminum foil is pretty straightforward...and just a little boring. We use it for cooking, storing leftovers, packaging things, and sometimes even for insulation. But if you happen to live in Japan, you may have noticed people using the material for something that's much more creative and easy on the eyes.

A Japanese jeweler recently demonstrated how to hammer and polish a crumpled ball of tin foil into perfection, making it resemble a smooth, reflective silver ball. After posting pictures of the process, he sparked a nationwide trend centered around refining these metal leaves "” and the results are beyond beautiful.

It all starts with a ball of aluminum foil like this, made from a 52-foot long roll, to be exact.

Then with a lot of hammering, it begins to get smoother and smoother.

Throw in a ton of sanding, polishing, and rinsing, and you're left with this immensely satisfying result. Amazing, right?
