Texas Woman Gets Confronted While Abandoning Her Four Dogs In A Vacant Lot

On April 13, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, was just beginning her day when she witnessed another woman abandoning four dogs in a nearby vacant lot. She knew she had to step in and do something.

"I was getting ready for work when I spotted a car at a dead end road removing collars from within the car," she told ViralHog. "I put my shoes on quickly and ran out to the road and started recording the act."

There she tried to convince the woman to take her dogs to Animal Care Services (ACS), explaining that she could drop them off for free there instead of illegally abandoning them "” a crime that carries a $500 penalty per dog. The woman seemed receptive at first, but she ultimately didn't listen.

"I am tired of people doing this continuously in the area. I recorded to [educate] and advise them to do the right thing. The woman in the video responded back for directions to the Animal Care services, and yet decided to commit the illegal activity as directed by [the] driver who then backed out and [the] back seat passenger flipped me off."

Watch her footage of the encounter below.

ACS spokesman Lisa Norwood told KSAT that the woman in the video later turned herself in to authorities after going back to the lot, retrieving one of the dogs, and bringing it into ACS, where she surrendered it. She may face charges for each dog, as abandoning dogs is a class A misdemeanor and against both state and local laws.

Thanks to the woman who recorded the video, authorities were able to find the other three dogs. The good news is that two of the dogs have already been adopted. The remaining two, however, still need temporary foster homes. Here's hoping they find loving families as well.
