Mom Struggles To Conceive For 7 Yrs, But When Dr Shows Her Ultrasound She Almost Passes Out

Jamie Scott and her husband, Skyler, already had two sons "“ Shayden, 12, and Landon, 7 "“ but they desperately wanted to add to their brood. For years they tried to conceive again, but Jamie's polycystic ovary syndrome made it difficult and, after years of negative pregnancy tests, they struggled to admit that another baby might not be in the cards for them.

"It was really challenging to watch your wife go through that," Skyler said. "Seeing something that means so much to Jamie and not having success with it and not seeing the results of all our praying, that was really, really hard to go through."

Before giving up completely, the couple decided to enlist the help of a specialist to administer intrauterine insemination. On the second round, it worked!

"When I first found out I was pregnant, I did just an at-home pregnancy test a couple days before I could officially get blood work done to see if the fertility procedure had worked," Jamie said. "I went through so many pregnancy tests, I was used to seeing a negative. So, after all these years of trying, it was just incredible to see those two pink lines."

A few weeks later, a test showed Jamie's HCG hormone levels were extremely high, which typically indicates multiple pregnancies. The couple went in for an ultrasound, expecting to see twins, or maybe even triplets, but what the doctor told them next left them stunned.

They were expecting quintuplets!

"I was absolutely in awe," Jamie said, "and I cried to see all of those babies on the screen. I was in awe."

The couple was ecstatic, but also found themselves suddenly facing a high-risk pregnancy and the need to prepare for five new little ones to come into their lives. Jamie was worried about how she would be able to care for all of them, but her fears were soon put to rest.

"I wanted to be a great mother for all these individual human beings, and I was thinking about how we were going to do this," she recalled. "Then, I just had this overwhelming peace come over me, and just this message, "˜Just be love.' I thought, "˜I can do that.'"

Growing five little humans is a tough job and Jamie has to take things easy all while eating enough calories to keep her babies healthy. She joked that she's on "the chocolate milkshake diet" as she tries to gain the 100 pounds doctors advise.

"It's a little much because it's already like having a giant pumpkin in my belly," she said. "I feel full all the time, but yet I'm hungry and thirsty all the time. I have to eat more small meals throughout the day but packed with high-calories."

Thankfully, she has Skylar and her boys to help her out. Skylar has been getting better at cooking and laundry, and little Landon has taken it upon himself to make sure his mom is well cared for.

While it will be a big adjustment, the family is looking forward to meeting the little ones "“ three girls and two boys.

"When you've struggled for that long to have a kid, it's so surreal," Skylar said. "Jamie kept thinking we were going to wake up and find out we're not pregnant."

Jamie and Skylar have temporarily moved from their home in St. George, Utah, to Phoenix, Arizona, so she can be under the care of Dr. John Elliott, who has helped deliver 23 sets of quintuplets over his career. Jamie is hoping to carry the babies to 34 weeks at which point Dr. Elliott will deliver them via C-section with the help of five separate medical teams.

While their world has been turned upside down, the Scotts wouldn't trade it for anything.

"I have to remind myself that everything is real," Jamie said. "After so long of desiring one more child in our family, it's incredible to me that this is my life now. I just feel so incredibly blessed that this is my new life."
