Sometimes we write people off based solely on a first impression. We let their appearance or demeanor determine our judgment of them without actually taking the time to get to know them.
That’s what happened when this unassuming 81-year-old man walked into a guitar shop.
Bob Wood had dropped off an amp to get fixed and was back to pick it up. To test it out and make sure it was working properly, he plugged in a guitar and started to play.
Based on his appearance alone, many of the people in the shop expected him to stum a few notes, maybe play a few lines of an old country song, and then move on.
But when Wood started to play, the entire store went silent in shock. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing!
It just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover!
Wood actually grew up playing music in the Shenandoah Valley. In 1970, he was signed on as a regular performer at Jamboree USA in Wheeling, West Virginia, where he performed for 10 years.
Wood was named Entertainer of the Year by Eastern States Country Music Inc. and, in 2007, he was inducted into the Southern Legends Country Music Hall of Fame.
