Arizona Man Admits To "˜Torching His Ex-Girlfriend Alive And Watching Her Die' After A Paternity Test

Jasmine Dunbar was a beautiful and devoted mom.

The 21-year-old went missing on Tuesday along with her seven-month old baby girl.

Tragically the body of the Arizona woman was found two days later beaten and burnt.

According to police, her ex-boyfriend has admitted to hitting her, setting her body on fire, and watching the flames blaze before he fled the scene.

Antwaun Travon, 20, and Dunbar were last seen together on their way to get a paternity test.

But Jasmine's family became worried when her baby was found abandoned on the side of the road still in its car seat on Tuesday evening.

The infant was safely returned to its family thanks to a backpack that held Dunbar's identification.

The family then launched a search for its mother saying, "˜Jasmine would never leave her baby's side for anything' as said to ABC15.

Her family reported that she left her home around 7:30pm. Three hours later her baby was found in her car alone.

On Thursday morning, police found a body near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix.

Police believe it is Dunbar's body.  Her body had sustained significant burns.

Authorities await official identification, according to ABC15.

Speaking to detectives Tuesday, Travon said that after he picked up Dunbar on Tuesday he allegedly "˜had a physical altercation' with her.

He then brutally "˜punched her a number of times with his fist'.

He claimed that he left her in a field near where her body was found and that "˜she was still alive then'.

He then fled the scene and dropped off the baby in a different neighborhood.

He claimed he returned to Dunbar's body afterwards where he burned her body.

He said he allegedly put a piece of paper on her body and "˜poured gasoline on her'. "˜

He then set it afire with a cigarette' and watched as her body burned and the fire put itself out.

Travon was arrested on Thursday based on evidence "“ including a gasoline can- found by police.

He was arrested on one count of first-degree murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of abandonment of a body and one count of child abuse and has been booked into Maricopa County Jail.
