This shelter dog wouldn't let go of her hand in the car..

Dogs are social animals and would seek comfort from their family members like we do. A 4 year-old golden retriever named Regan had lived with her former owner who had sadly passed away.

Unfortunately, Regan was forced to live in a shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee as no one in her former owner's family wanted to take care of her.  But little did Regan knew, a guardian angel would soon rescue her. Kim Mozena Rezac, founder of Goofy Foot Dog Rescue and director of animal welfare for Animal Rescue Corps, immediately took notice of Regan when she saw her at the shelter.

But Regan was a shy dog and did not trust strangers easily. Rezac did not let that hinder her. Instead, Rezac spent her time by sitting and talking to Regan, even giving her treats. Three days later, Rezac had finally earned Regan's trust and the pair had developed a strong bond.

As Rezac's friendship with Regan grew stronger, she found that she could not just leave her there at the shelter and brought her home with her  Rezac decided to foster Regan until she finds a forever home. Although Rezac knew that Regan would be happy to finally leave the shelter for good, she did not know how much her actions had meant to Regan.

During the 2 hour and a half drive to Huntingdon, Regan held hands with Rezac throughout the entire car ride. Regan would even paw at Rezac's hand if she pulled her hand away to focus on driving! Rezac was touched by Regan's reaction and posted a video of it online to help Regan get the forever home she deserves. The video soon garnered a lot of attention and many adoption inquiries quickly flooded in.

In a matter of days, Regan was placed into a new foster home with a couple who intend to adopt her if things went well. Regan is currently living happily with her new family in her foster home.
