If you've been listening to the news lately, you've heard the talk about nuclear codes, red buttons and speculation about another cold war between the Russia and the United States.
So, if everything goes to hell in a hand basket, what do you think your chances of survival are? Excellent? Pretty good?
According to the maps at WouldISurviveANuke.com, unless we live in North Dakota, we're probably all doomed.
The map is easy to use: just write in your location, choose a population, number of cities and the type of nuke.
Does it sound morbid? Yes.
Is it scientifically accurate? I have no idea.
This is what the fallout of an 18 Kiloton Fatman would look like in L.A. and 3 of the closest cities with the population of less than 1 million.
Detroit doesn't look much better...
If you were in South Salt Lake and a Fatman fell on Salt Lake City, you'd be a little crispy...
Looks like they were right about North Dakota:
Even if five bombs fell in five cities with a population of less than 1 million, you'd be just fine.
Now, I'm seriously considering moving to North Dakota.
For something a little more detailed and a lot more terrifying, check out NukeMap, and then move to Nunavut.
