And baby makes five!
On September 18, Jessica Simpson surprised her fans that she and her retired football player husband Eric Johnson are expecting their third child.
The "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer took to Instagram and posted two photos of her children Ace Knute, 5, and Maxwell Drew, 6, who announced the gender of their future sibling.
"SURPRISE..." Simpson captioned her first picture, which was followed by another photo of her children surrounded by pink balloons.
"This little baby girl will make us a family of five. We couldn’t be happier to announce this precious blessing of life," she continued on the other.
Simpson seemed to have a change of heart when it came to expanding her family, as she told Ellen DeGeneres she and Johnson are done having children.
"I’m not pregnant,” Simpson said to the talk show host in 2017. "We got an IUD, nothing’s gonna get in that uterus."
"I have two beautiful children, and I’m not having a third," she continued. "They’re too cute … you can’t top that."
Back in April, the fashion mogul teased the couple had been contemplating welcoming another addition to their family.
"We always practice,” Simpson opened up to Entertainment Tonight. "But it would definitely have to be a miracle."
She said that while the pair "don’t really know" if they’ll have a third child but that she's still "very attracted" to her husband of four years.
"Today, we got to go on this trip without the kids, [and usually] we don’t go places without the kids," Simpson continued, adding that "all the attention" will be focused on each other."
But while they appreciate their alone time, she couldn't help but brag about how much of an amazing father Johnson is.
"He's always throwing around the kids, and he's just an amazing father, it makes me want to stay young," Simpson shared. "Like how can you be so active? I mean watching the kids running makes me exhausted."
The same day, Simpson quickly followed up her shock announcement with a picture of her growing baby bump, which she titled, "My Baby Love."
According to the 38-year-old, being a mother is one of the greatest joys in her life.
"Being a mother is the best opportunity and challenge I’ve ever been blessed with in life," Simpson told Us Weekly, adding that her children have already begun teaching her.
"Right now my kids are in this amazing stage where I’m really listening to them without judgment and they’re teaching me so much,' she said. "These little innocent kids teach me so much about life."
