Joanna Gaines In Tears Over "Fixer Upper" Episode

Patti Baker had just relocated to Waco, Texas to be closer to her two sons when she chose a 1950s era house to be her forever home. With good bones and the right amount of space, Baker believed it just "needed a hug."

As Fixer Upper fans know, Chip and Joanna Gaines are good at delivering hugs, and as it turned out Baker really needed it.

With nice features and plenty of promise, the plain beige exterior, dated kitchen and baths needed a face-lift.

Baker's taste in decor is described as simple, basic and primitive, which falls well within Joanna's wheelhouse of design.

"Patti's key word was really "primitive." She wanted authentic. She wanted things that looked handmade," Joanna said.

"This is her forever home," said Joanna. "I want to make sure that everything that I am choosing and deciding from a design standpoint is timeless and as classic as possible."

But it wasn't the house that got Joanna teary-eyed.

During the episode, the newly pregnant mother-of-five tweeted how this particular renovation has her reaching for the issues.

"This one's a tear jerker," she tweeted during the episode.

She and her husband worked on Baker's new house in Texas, once she relocated after the death of her husband. She decided to buy this new humble abode after losing her husband to cancer, so that she could be closer to her two sons.

Starting with the outside, the "Fixer Upper" duo changed up the bland exterior with a brightened cedar shingles, lighter paint and a redesigned porch. The house now fits in with the Texas lifestyle.

The 1,600 square foot home had a closed off floor plan that didn't offer much in the way of open space. But the nearly untouched original flooring was a highlight of the house.

With white shutters and light furniture, the finishing touches of her space were relaxed and refreshing. Perfect for a new beginning.

They were able to give Baker the dream kitchen that she always wanted, with a focal point back-splash, a wooden island and the farmhouse sink that was on her wish list.

After watching the episode fans agreed with Joanna's sentiment.

"Yes, it really was.  So happy for Patty, and thankful that y'all were able to bring true peace to her new home," one Twitter user commented.

"I'm so excited for Patty to receive all the love and care you give. You are so so sweet and special!" another tweeted.

"I will admit it....i cried, while i am working. Beautifully done," admitted another.

What a great person for this power couple to help!
