Kate Middleton Pays Subtle Tribute To Princess Diana During Royal Tour

Diana may have passed away over twenty years ago, but her sons, Princes William and Harry, and their significant others have been trying their best to keep her memory alive.

The brothers have both candidly spoken about how much they miss having their mother, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, around. It's especially hard when they're celebrating major milestones, like getting engagements, weddings, and starting a family.

Prince Harry opened up Diana's absence on a number of occasions, and more recently, he talked about it during his first televised interview with his new fiance Meghan Markle.

"It is days like - days like today when - when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news. But you know with the ring and with everything else that's going on I'm sure she's with us...yeah."

Harry made sure that Diana was part of he and Meghan's "crazy journey" by including diamonds from his mother's jewelry collection in the engagement ring.

"I think everything about Harry's thoughtfulness is - and the inclusion of that and obviously not being able to meet his mom it's so important to me to - to know that she's a part of this with us," Meghan said.

William also previously revealed how much it hurts him to not have his mother beside him while his children are growing up.

"I would like to have had her advice," Prince William, who was only 15 when he lost his mother, told GQ. "I would love her to have met Catherine and to have seen the children grow up. It makes me sad that she won't, that they will never know her."

When the royal couple got engaged back in 2010, William proposed with his mother's 18-carat sapphire ring. Kate has since continued the tradition of honoring Diana every chance she gets.

More recently, she paid a subtle but sweet tribute to her late mother-in-law during her and William's royal tour of Sweden.

While many celebrity possessions end up at auction houses and museums, the royal family made sure to safeguard Diana's valuables after her death.

Since tying the knot with William, the Duchess of Cambridge has been incorporating some of the late Princess's most prized items into her style as a way to honor her memory.

The pregnant royal showed up for a black tie event at the Residence of the British Ambassador in Stockholm, Sweden in a bold floor length dress accessorized with Diana's Collingwood pearl earrings and bracelet.

Kate seems to be fond of the pearl set because she has previously worn them on a number of occasions, including during a visit to Germany last year.

Diana first wore the beloved earrings at a banquet a month before her wedding. Since then, she was spotted wearing them on multiple occasions, including her wedding day.

She was last pictured with the earrings on the night the Prince of Wales confirmed his affair with Camilla. She paired them with the iconic black "revenge dress" and sapphire choker.

In addition to jewelry, Kate has also previously worn Diana's favorite tiara, The Queen Mary's Lover's Knot, a handful of times.

Although she always has the choice to opt for new accessories, Kate is often spotted wearing Diana's because it's a way for her to pay homage to the mother-in-law she never had the honor of meeting.
