Kristen Bell Posts Inspiring Message About Husband's Sobriety

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell have an enviable relationship, and it's not just because they're both celebrities. When they started dating in 2007, Bell admits that she had a flare for the dramatic, but Shepard wanted to make things work.

When we first met, we fell madly in love and I love the dramatic exit.

There is nothing I crave more. We'd get in a fight because we'd fight a lot, and I'd yell something and then slam the bedroom door, then I'd slam the front door, then I'd get in my car and then I'd skid out the driveway and I would sit around the corner in my car and it felt so good and I realized how incredibly toxic it was only after he pointed it out.

Three months into our relationship he was like: 'You can't leave anymore during fights. I'm not going to do that.' He has a very high standard and a strong code of ethics.

He was like: 'No, I have more respect for myself. I love you, but I'm not going to do that my whole life. Our marriage won't survive.'

He said, 'Let's just help you. You are not a good fighter.' And I always thought I was because I won.

He's like, 'No, people can't do that. Our marriage won't survive.'

And everything he was saying was making so much sense and I was like damn this guy.

In 2013, Shepard and Bell got married after same-sex marriage became legal, something they strongly advocate for. They also share two kids together, daughters Delta and Lincoln. As parents, Bell and Shepard decided to not post pictures of their children's faces on social media, as they wanted them to maintain privacy growing up.

Bell and Shepard always support one another in their careers and personal life, but it was a recent post from Bell about her husband's sobriety that really made us emotional. Shepard celebrated 14 years of sobriety this year, although many people didn't even realize he was in recovery.

Bell's message to her husband was extremely touching.

To the man mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy, Who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible, Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down, I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it. I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night. You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when its needed most. You have become the fertilizer in the garden of our life, encouraging everyone to grow. I'm so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves. You have certainly inspired me to do so. I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you. I see how hard you work. You set an excellent example of being human. Happy 14th year sobriety birthday, @daxshepard. Xoxo

Fourteen years of sobriety is definitely something to celebrate, and I'm sure Shepard's family plays a huge role in his success.

Congratulations, Dax!

Meagan has an intense love for Netflix, napping, and carbs.
