When you're as famous as That "˜70s Show stars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, every decision you make gets put under the microscope.
And now that the celebrity couple are parents - to four-year-old Wyatt Isabelle and two-year-old Dimitri - their parenting choices are also heavily scrutinized. Just imagine the way your in-laws judge you, except multiplied by a billion.
While the lovey-dovey couple seem to be great parents, one of their holiday traditions has proven to be very controversial.
Although Kunis comes from a Jewish family, she and Kutcher both celebrate Christmas with their children - except for one big exception. There are no gifts for their kids under the Kutcher-Kunis family tree.
"So far," Kunis told Entertainment Tonight last year, "our tradition is no presents for the kids."
The actress went on to reveal that concern for her daughter, Wyatt, inspired the blanket ban on gifts.
"We're instituting it this year because when the kids are [younger than] one, it doesn't really matter," she explained.
"Last year when we celebrated Christmas, Wyatt was two and it was too much. We didn't give her anything "” it was the grandparents. The kid no longer appreciates the one gift. They don't even know what they're expecting; they're just expecting stuff."
The Bad Moms star actually came up with a strict rule about how in-laws and grandparents should handle Christmas gifts for her two kids, to keep Wyatt from being spoiled with presents again.
"'We're begging you,'" she told her relatives, "'if you have to give her something, pick one gift. Otherwise, we'd like to take a charitable donation, to the Children's Hospital [of Los Angeles] or a pet [or] whatever you want.' That's our new tradition."
Kunis later cleared the air about her strict rule on Jimmy Kimmel Live: her husband and her aren't "anti-gift," but they'll only get one present for Wyatt (Dimitri, at two, is too young for gifts by their rules).
You may think that if you had as much money as Kunis and Kutcher, you would shower your children with gifts. But the actress is concerned about "raising ---holes," and said that motivates her parenting choices.
"Yeah, we're not gonna raise ---holes. There's enough ---holes in this world!"
And don't think the couple are just being a pair of Scrooges either. In the same interview, Kunis listed off all of the fun activities she's taken Wyatt to, as they travel the country for her work.
"I can write you a book on kid-friendly activities anywhere in the world," she bragged. "There's not one kid activity that I haven't done yet with my child!"
Just like how Kunis and Kutcher have mingled their Christian and Jewish traditions together, the gift restrictions are their way of building their own "little versions of tradition." Although, Kutcher sounds a bit more like the "fun" parent.
"I come from communist Russia, where you're not allowed to be happy, so my holiday traditions are 'be quiet,'" Kunis joked.
Kutcher seems happy to surprise his friends with gifts too. His Punk'd costar Dax Shepard showed off an unusual gift from the actor just this week: a shower curtain with him and Kunis printed on it.
"What a generous Christmas gift from the Kunis-Kutcher family," Shepard wrote. "A beautiful shower curtain for the attic(t) bathroom!"
