'Long Island Medium' Theresa's Husband Gives Heartbreaking Update About Their Relationship

Last year, fans of the hit TLC show Long Island Medium were shocked to learn that Theresa and Larry Caputo have separated after 28 years of marriage.

"After 28 years of marriage, we have decided to legally separate," the couple said in a joint statement. "We will always love each other and our two wonderful children. We are united in supporting each other and our family. Please respect our privacy during this time."

Theresa hinted on the show that their relationship was on the rocks, but the fans were so sure that they'd work through the rough patch. Sources close to the couple, who renewed their vows on their 22nd anniversary, told TMZ that there may be room for reconciliation because they very much still love each other.

During the show's season finale, Larry opened up about his failing marriage for the first time.

"I think a lot of the frustration has to do with us not spending the time together anymore,' he said. "Along with that comes the lack of communication so it's like losing your best friend. It's hard."

He also admitted that their relationship was never perfect, but even with ups and downs, they always managed to work it out.

"I just cared for her enough that I wasn't going to let that [Theresa's ability to communicate with the dead] affect us," he said. "I wasn't going to break up with her because she has this issue. I felt like I was her anchor in those moments. It was a pattern and it wouldn't last long, I knew that, so it just a matter of getting through whatever amount of time it took her to go through that anxiety attack."

Larry revealed that they attended therapy to help with their problems, but they took the therapist's advice and decided to spend time apart.

"I just can't imagine our lives not together," he said. "I just don't know where our lives would go from there."

Sadly, time only drove them further apart. Back in April, Theresa told Goodhousekeeping.com that she was moving forward without Larry, but they're "in a good place."

"[We're] working and finding our place," she explained. "We've been together for a very long time. And people change. We all change. None of us are the same we were 10 years ago, five years ago, regardless of our work or what we're doing with our lives. We change, as people."

Theresa still lives in New York, but Larry moved to Los Angeles during their separation. He is still a part of the show, and in one of the trailers, he is heard telling Theresa "We can't go on like this," before he's seen crying in another scene.

Unfortunately, Larry admitted to TMZ that his worst fear has come true.

"We're in divorce proceedings," he said. "So that's been going on for like the last six months. It's not finalized, I don't know when it will be. But that's where we're at. I'm doing fine, I know she's doing well. I'm happy, we've moved on with our lives."

Larry wasn't kidding when he said they have moved on as he is now seeing someone else.

"I have moved on, and I'm fortunate enough to say that I have met someone special, but I'll just leave it at that for now."

Life & Style

As for the show, he said he is unsure if he'll be appearing on the show after the divorce.

"That's a good question, I don't really know what the status is," he said. "All I could say is, fans are going to have to tune in and watch. I honestly don't know if I'll be involved anymore."
