When Ed Garnon of Whittier, California adopted a feral dog named Rex, the wild pup had quite the rough reputation.

Rex was, by all means, a dangerous animal. He would fight with other dogs, kill cats and bark at anyone who came near. But, with plenty of rehabilitation, and lots of love and affection, he grew into a well-trained, gentle beast.

One afternoon, Gernon and Rex were playing outside, when the dog stopped suddenly - dead in his tracks. When Gernon stepped over to investigate, he found a lifeless, baby humming bird laying on the ground.
