Megyn Kelly Slams 'Hanoi Jane' Fonda Amidst Ongoing Feud

Back in September, while on a promotional tour for their movie Our Souls at Night, Jane Fonda and Robert Redford were invited on NBC's Megyn Kelly Today to discuss the film.

Unfortunately, their chat didn't go as well as planned, and the interview took a turn for the awkward.

At one point during the show, Kelly deviated from the main topic of conversation to question Fonda about her appearance. The former Fox News host brought up Fonda's history with plastic surgery, despite the fact that the actress publicly stated that she was not proud about having work done.

"You've been an example to everyone in how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically. You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit. But you look amazing," Kelly said to Fonda.

"I read that you said you're not proud to admit you've had work done. Why not?" she asked.

Unimpressed by Kelly's probing, the Oscar-winning actress responded with,"We really want to talk about that right now?"

Kelly attempted to correct the situation by complimenting Fonda, but the damage was already done. Fonda redirected the interview back to the topic of the movie, but you could cut through the tension with a knife.

It's been months since the cringe-worthy interview took place, but it looks like Fonda and Kelly's feud is ongoing. Fonda has since repeatedly criticized Kelly, and things were no different during her latest interview with Variety.

Fonda opened up about how she really felt when Kelly brought up plastic surgery, and claimed that Kelly's out of line questioning "showed that she's not that good an interviewer."

"It wasn't like I was upset," Fonda added. "I was stunned. It was so inappropriate."

Kelly caught wind of Fonda's criticism, and used her platform to retort. She went as far as bringing up the actress's infamous past, specifically her actions during the Vietnam War.

This week, Kelly took some time on her show to clarify her position in the ongoing feud with Fonda.

She slammed the actress for continuing to bring up the four-month old incident, and stated that Fonda "has no business lecturing anyone on what qualifies as offensive."

Kelly said she had no qualms asking Fonda about going under the knife because the actress has previously talked about plastic surgery "pretty much everywhere," and she had no idea that "this subject was suddenly off limits."

"For years [Fonda] has spoke about the joy of giving a cultural face to older women," Kelly said. "The truth is, most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now 80. And if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women's cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore."

Kelly then slammed Fonda for her treatment of the military during the Vietnam War, which earned her the moniker "Hanoi Jane."

"I have no regrets about that question, nor am I in the market for a lesson from Jane Fonda on what is and is not appropriate," Kelly said. "This is a woman whose name is synonymous with outrage. Look at her treatment of military during the Vietnam War. She posed on an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down our American pilots. She called our POWs hypocrites and liars and referred to their torture as 'understandable.' Even she had to apologize years later for that gun picture. But not for the rest of it. By the way she says she is not proud of America."

Kelly's comments were met with cheers and applause from the audience, but apparently the staff were appalled and worried about the controversy this would stir up, according to an insider source.

Fonda, who previously stated that she will only return to the show "if she comes around and learns her stuff," has yet to respond to Kelly's latest comments.
