Long before Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States, he and his family had become accustomed to life in the spotlight, but the past two years were like nothing they ever experienced before.

But, Trump's brash behavior in the media isn't the only thing the public is criticizing the infamous family for.  

The press spends a significant amount of time reporting on his third wife Melania Trump, but it's rarely for anything positive.

"Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"

Back in June, Melania wore a green jacket with the words "I really don't care. Do u?" written on the back, which caused an uproar.

The former model was on her way to McAllen, Texas to visit an immigrant children's shelter.

While the public scorned Melania for her "tone deaf" jacket, Trump was quick to come to his wife's defense, and tweeted a rebuttal.

"'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"

Earlier this month, Melania decided to set the record straight and sat down for a tell-all interview with ABC News' World News Tonight anchor and Chief National Affairs Correspondent Tom Llamas.

She spoke on a handful of the most popular issues plaguing society, and of course, the infamous $39 Zara jacket.

"I want to show [the media] that I don't care," Melania said. "You could criticize whatever you want to say, but it will not stop me to do what I feel is right."

"It was kind of a message, yes. I would prefer that they would focus on what I do and on my initiatives than what I wear," she continued, adding her statement wasn't directed at the children she was visiting.

"It's obvious I didn't wear the jacket for the children. I wore the jacket to go on the plane and off the plane."

Melania also touched upon the #MeToo movement and showed her support for the campaign.

"I support the women and they need to be heard. We need to support them and also men, not just women," Melania told Llamas.

But when the mother-of-one was asked if men are unfairly treated when publicly accused of sexual misconduct, she said, "We need to have really hard evidence that you know, that if you are accused of something, show the evidence."

However, the interview wouldn't be the last we'll hear about Melania, as author Nina Burleigh is has released a tell-all on the President's wives, titled, Golden Handcuffs: The Secret History of Trump's Women, which features explosive claims on the First Lady's relationship with Trump.

"It's about all that power and protection."

In the book, which was made available on October 16, Burleigh claimed an "old friend" of Melania's from her home country of Slovenia said she only married Trump, who's 24 years her senior, because she was in need of a father figure.

"It's about all that power and protection," the source said. "I think she needed a strong man, a father figure."

Burleigh also alleged Trump shared a striking resemblance to her own father, Viktor Knavs.

"The two men are only a few years apart in age, and look alike, both rotund, given to bellicosity, and otherwise all business," Burleigh wrote.

She also referenced an April 2016 GQ interview in her book, where Melania even discussed the similarities herself.

"They're both hardworking," Melania had revealed. "They're both very smart and very capable. They grew up in totally different environments, but they have the same values, they have the same tradition."

"I myself am similar to my husband. Do you understand what I mean? So is my dad; he is a family man, he has tradition, he was hardworking. So is my husband."

But that's not the only reason Burleigh believes Melania tied the knot with Trump.

"Of course, there was a small price to pay to keep the wolf of financial mediocrity at bay."

In the tell-all, the Newsweek journalist asserted Melania's started a relationship with the father-of-five in an effort to secure power and protection for both her and her family.

"The rewards of submission to Donald's "˜vitality' and whims were great. Ensconced in the gold-plated triplex with servants above, and Tiffany and Gucci down below, and a chauffeured car to move her around Manhattan, plus the summer home in Bedminster and the winter mansion in Palm Beach, Melania soon forgot what it was like to shop at Crate & Barrel "” which she had done to fill the Union Square pad," the book reads.

"Of course, there was a small price to pay to keep the wolf of financial mediocrity at bay. There was a role to play... Melania would play sex kitten Slovenian."

But Burleigh noted that her decision to wed Trump had backfired when he ran in the 2016 presidential election.

The rumors about his numerous affairs and his controversial statements and investigations caused a strain on the couple's marriage, along with the fact she was unwillingly thrust into the limelight.  

"What's happening is exactly what she didn't want to happen," a source close to Melania told PEOPLE in March. "They've literally become like the Kardashians: scandals, divorces, headlines."

However, the claims had been quickly refuted by the White House, adding the allegations held no merit.

"As usual, the claims made by anonymous sources in the book are not true," Stephanie Grisham, director of communications for the first lady, told the publication in an email. "I'd also add that the author didn't bother to reach out to fact check anything that she wrote."
