Every once in a while, our favourite cartoon characters get slight changes to their appearances so they don't appear outdated.

This week a member of the Disney family is embracing change by adopting a new look and it is not what you would expect.

Minnie Mouse is looking very different these days after she traded her signature red polka dot dress for a flirty black and white frock that looks like it came straight off the SS17 runway.

The stylish mouse debuted her new look at the Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Sunday and all eyes were on her. Asides from the custom dress, the outfit included oversized sunglasses and a rose flower crown.  

Minnie's makeover can be credited to Sylvia Bendet, CEO and creative director of Alice +Olivia. "I've always loved the smile that Disney characters bring to people of all ages! I think of fashion the same way. It should make you smile," said Bendet.

The sweet-natured Minnie is a perfect fit for Alice + Olivia's feminine but whimsical designs. Bendet added, "I wanted to bring Minnie's fun personally to life. I really just wanted to give her a little bit of alice +olivia but in her own way, so I incorporated bold colors and fun prints including of course, her iconic polka dots."

The Disney character spent the rest of the night rubbing shoulders with some famous people including Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardashian. The pictures from the awards show are proof that a good time was had by all. It's hard not to when you're partying with the iconic Minnie Mouse.

There are no plans for a Alice + Olivia and Disney collaboration as of now but we're still holding out hope for one in the near future.
