Our pets come into our lives and capture every piece of our hearts. We grow with them, we live with them, we care for them, and we love them more than we can describe.
With dogs especially, there is a bond that's formed that cannot be described. So when your beloved animals passes away, you grieve as though a member of your family has just died...because they have.
Thought celebrities are blessed in many ways, they are certainly not immune to the pain of losing a pet. Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder and his wife, Twilight star Nikki Reed, said goodbye to their dog Ira, and they were clearly very upset about it.
Somerhalder and Reed have a house full of animals, often fostering animals in need, but Ira was a staple in their lives. Despite all the other horses, cats, and dogs they care for, the couple saw Ira as one of their own kids.
It will never get easier losing a pet, but you will start to focus more on the memories you have rather than those that could have been. We hope Ian and Nikki find the peace they need in this emotional time.
