The trial of O.J. Simpson was well-documented on TV, in papers, and basically anywhere else that covered news. In 1994, O.J. Simpson was alleged to have killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. His lawyer, Robert Kardashian, worked hard to let O.J. walk free, and it worked. Because one of the gloves in evidence didn't fit, O.J. Simpson was found not guilty of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman's murders.
When Simpson walked free, he wrote a book about the murders called If I Did It. Seriously. The entire book was a hypothetical detail-for-detail account of just how he would have murdered those people.
At the time of his book release, O.J. gave an interview with Judith Regan, who helped the accused murdered write his book. That interview never made it to air, but it never fully went away.
Airing March 11th on FOX, the lost interview will reveal some chilling admissions from O.J. Simpson about the night Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman were killed.
Simpson allegedly talks about how the murders might have been committed, similar to in his book. He then goes on to talk at-length about an accomplice who hypothetically helped kill Brown and Goldman. The accomplice is never named, but it's clear that O.J. (hypothetically) did not act alone.
All those hypothetical answers have apparently been confirmed, however, after news about a confession has surfaced.
According to a new clip of the interview, O.J. Simpson told his lawyer to call Judith Regan, the woman who publish his book, and confessed to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The clip will be a part of the O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession? special to air on Sunday.
"I actually thought it was some kind of a scam and didn't believe him. I thought 'this guy is a lunatic,'" Regan said of the initial phone call.
The news of the confession comes directly from Regan herself, who says that Simpson's lawyer also explained the title of the book. He went with "If I Did It" because he didn't want his kids to know that he had actually killed their mom. However, they will obviously find out about it now so why would he give the okay on this interview being aired?
It's interesting to hear that Simpson was worried about his kids, considering he left her nearly-decapitated body in her condo as their two kids slept. Luckily the dog found someone to help, otherwise the kids would have woken up to find their mother's dead body.
Because Simpson was already tried and found not guilty of the crimes, he doesn't run the risk of facing any legal consequences because of this confession. The interview is almost guaranteed to be one of the biggest television events of our lifetime.
