Pastor Welcomes Twins 2 Years After Losing Sons in a Tragic Accident

A North Carolina couple welcomed twin boys to the world, 2 years after losing their two young sons in a car crash.

Hadley and Gentry Eddings were driving home from an anniversary dinner in May 2015 when their vehicle was struck by a truck. The accident killed their 2 year-old son Dobbs and Hadley's unborn baby, Reed. She was 37 weeks pregnant at the time of the crash.  Reed was delivered by emergency c-section but the newborn passed away two days later.

Hadley and Gentry were both 28 years-old at the time of the tragic accident that happened near Wilmington, North Carolina.

The truck driver the rear-ended the family, Matthew Blair Deans was also 28 at the time. He was sentenced to 1-3 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. He was released in November after serving 1 year and 3 months of his sentence. At the time of the accident he was said to be driving while distracted.

At his sentencing hearing, Deans apologized to the couple for the pain he caused, to which they gave their forgiveness.

"We hope to be holding hands with you in heaven with our children," the couple said.

After the accident the couple said they had not thought about having more children.

Gentry is a worship leader at Forest Hills Church in Charlotte, with a 6,000 member congregation across four campuses. Hadley teaches preschool at the church.

"God has a plan. The situation is a frustrating one. We don't want to be here. We don't like it. This is not a fun situation. We're mad at the loss. But we know God is good and has a plan and we believe that," Hadley said.

The couple announced their pregnancy on Facebook in January.

"Y'all have held us up in prayer and we are so grateful! Now we ask you to add two more Eddings to your prayers! We are expecting twins this summer!', Hadley wrote.

"We are excited that Dobbs and Reed are going to be big brothers to twins! We are so thankful for our family and so many friends who have prayed for us and cheered us on our way. We're rejoicing, and thank Jesus for these two precious little ones!" Hadley said in a statement to People.

Isaiah Dobbs was born weighing 6.9 lbs and Amos Reed weighed 6.4 lbs. The boys' middle names are in honor of their big brothers whom they will never met.

Both boys are doing well, and so is Hadley.

Congratulations to the Eddings family!
