Prince Harry Avoids Questions About Whether Obama Will Get A Wedding Invite

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement on Nov. 27, media outlets were in a frenzy as they began harping on the royals for all of the details surrounding their upcoming nuptials.

While some questions have been answered (like when and where), there has been no confirmation on the couple's guest list. While we can safely assume the royal family will be in attendance, along with Markle's closest friends, the jury is still out on one potential attendee: Barack Obama.

The pair hit it off after Obama showed his support to the Invictus Games, a multi-sport event, created by the prince, for injured servicemen and women.

The scope of Harry and the former president's friendship was made clear on Dec. 27, when Harry was guest editing for BBC Radio 4. He brought along a recording of an interview he had with Obama "“ the first since he had since leaving office 11 months ago -, which included a lighting round quiz, and a discussion on social media use.

"All of us in leadership have to find ways in which we can recreate a common space on the internet," Obama said. "One of the dangers of the internet is that people can have entirely different realities. They can be cocooned in information that reinforces their current biases."

But despite their close bond, UK government officials have warned Harry against sending a wedding invitation to the 44th president.

Harry has been advised not to invite the Obamas to his May 19th wedding, as it may create backlash from President Donald Trump.

According to CNN, while Harry and Obama are friends, the prince does not have a relationship with Trump. There has been speculation that by inviting the Obama and his wife Michelle, and not the Trumps, it could cause a political rift between the U.S. and Britain.

When asked live on air if he and his bride-to-be will invite the Obamas to the wedding, Harry played it coy.

"We haven't put the invites or the guest list together yet so who knows whether he's going to be invited or not. I wouldn't want to ruin that surprise," Harry said.

However, Us Weekly has reported Harry has already informally invited the Obamas.

"Harry has already told the Obamas he wants them at the wedding but because of the political side of things, like the immense pressure that would follow to invite the Trumps, their appearance at the wedding hangs in the balance," a source told the magazine. "If they don't go, it will be because the Obamas have turned around and said 'We understand the situation you're in, let us make it easy for you.'"

Do you think the Obamas will attend the royal wedding?
